Biography
Nicholas Mentillo
Nick Mentillo is an active drummer, producer, composer, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Portland, OR. Known for being the drummer of Portland bands The Charlie Darwins, Breezy the Band, Marlette and collaborator and live drummer for Simultanagnosia. He is also known for composing soundtracks for films and runs a full service music studio.
Born in Auburn, New York, Nick grew up between his hometown and Pickens, SC where he went to middle and high school. Nick began learning percussion at 10 years old through the school system, sticking with drumming through his senior year where he was a drumline captain and featured jazz drummer. While in high school he played in multiple bands, playing guitar, bass and drums in various projects. He continued his passion for music at Winthrop University. Forming long time collaborations with his friends; David Hensley (Long Walk Productions; soundtrack composition) and fellow musicians Peter Landis and Wookie Laney.
Before moving to Portland, OR in 2012, he lived in Florida for a couple years, playing music with Ryan Scortino. Once moving to Portland, he started his long collaboration with Gerald Love through The Charlie Darwins and Jay Robichaux through Breezy the Band. Meeting childhood friends Trevor Smith and Dylan Carroll in 2017, he joined Marlette, taking on drumming, arranging and recording roles. He's played on, produced, mixed and mastered dozens of projects and continues to record, compose and play live music.
